“The More I See The Kendrick Lamar Halftime Show, The More I Like It!” Says My Aunt Laura

CORN CITY—Last Tuesday, my aunt Laura created a post on Facebook that read “The more I see the Kendrick Lamar halftime show, the more I like it!”

The post featured a Facebook avatar of Laura doing two thumbs up with a cornfield in the background. Some have speculated that the cornfield is a nod to her hometown of Corn City.

The post follows Kendrick Lamar’s historic Super Bowl LIX halftime show, a performance which provided a cultural commentary involving themes such as race, social justice, and corruption within the music industry. According to sources, Laura was unaware of Lamar’s existence prior to this show, despite having heard “Swimming Pools (Drank)” at the supermarket once.

Under Laura’s post, my mom, also from Corn City, commented “You know what, me too!” However, when questioned by the Dealer, she confirmed that she did not view the halftime show and has no idea who Lamar is.
