Joe Rogan to Star as Catherine Earnshaw in New Wuthering Heights Adaptation
According to a recent press release, Joe Rogan has been tapped to replace Margot Robbie as the leading lady in Emerald Fennell’s 2025 adaptation of classic Gothic novel Wuthering Heights. Robbie, 34, stepped down from the film last week amidst cries that she is “too fucking hot” to play the wispy, willful Cathy. Recently released photos fanned the flames of an already-contentious movie, with fans of the iconic 1847 novel criticizing Robbie and Jacob Elordi’s casting.
Fans of the book have praised the casting of Rogan, 57, especially following the leakage of set photos showing Rogan frolicking on the moors with Elordi’s Heathcliff.
“I’m glad to see she’s finally taking the source material into account,” Threads user @yandereheathcliff commented in response to the casting announcement. “I always envisioned Cathy as a bald anti-vaxxer.”
“I think [Fennell] initially listened to the Kate Bush song and called it a day, so this is a huge step in the right direction,” English professor Nelly Linton told the Dealer. “Hopefully she’ll use this momentum to replace Elordi too, and fix those god-awful costumes.”
