Fall Is My Favorite Time of Year

There’s nothing like the Autumn. The leaves start changing and the air gets cooler, and we’re once again entering my favorite season. As soon as the temperature starts dropping, I just know I’ll be smiling 24/7, from Columbus Day all the way up until the day after Thanksgiving.
I love hay rides and pumpkin patches. Thankfully in Fall there’s plenty of free time to enjoy them. Columbus Day is wonderful both because it celebrates the discovery of our great nation and because I get some time off from the good honest job I work diligently. I love watching a History Channel marathon, or taking a day trip to the apple orchard and picking the apples myself, with my own clean hands. The air is so brisk, and the colors in the trees are so bright and natural. So many distinct colors in the Autumn world, each of them uniquely good or bad.
Of course, the days get shorter and the nights get longer, and that’s when you know Halloween is coming. I love putting on my ghost outfit or my funny mask, and it’s just the best weekend for lawn decorations. We always hand out candy to good children wearing nice costumes, nothing too dark. We encourage them to be careful out on the streets, because you know how some people get. Then we watch those nice normal children scamper off, to eat their candy and share a few good spooks.
But the best part of the season has to be Thanksgiving. . ObviouslyI love getting my family around the table and eating the home-cooked turkey. And who doesn’t like watching the Redskins on TV? But I cherish the true meaning of the holiday too: giving thanks for the wonderful fellowship and the plentiful homeland we’ve been blessed with. This country is so beautiful during these months, just full of family and bounty and life. It’s important to thank God and the Pilgrims he sent that it belongs to Whites.
