Citing “irreconcilable differences,” Pro-Israel and Pro-Palestinian groups on campus have agreed to split the campus territory between each other.

In a rare joint statement, leaders of the two groups noted that recent events made it clear that they could no longer co-exist in certain campus spaces. Rebecca Katz of Jewish Voice for Peace noted that spaces like poster boards, quads, and Yik Yak had become breeding grounds for tension.

“It’s become clear that the Israel-Palestine conflict has become such a dividing issue on campus that, we must divide the campus itself,.said Katz.

President Zimmer announced that the line will extend from the center of the Quad to the north and south edges of campus. Anything to the East will be for Pro-Israeli students, while buildings . Anything to the West will be for Pro-Palestinian students. There will also be two student governments to ensure that each side has full autonomy.

“I feel better now,” said Monica Hamza of Students for Justice in Palestine.
