In a Shady Dealer exclusive, tThe University of Chicago has announced that the new Campus North Residential Hall will be named the Donald J. Trump Residential Hall. The University has announced the new name after it received an small, anonymous donation of 100 million dollars. Though there have been concerns over the residence hall, a University representative ensures the new living space will be the safest, most inclusive, on campus.
For example, a new student identification system will be unveiled for better security and cohesion. “The new hall will pilot a new badging system to easily identify members of the residence hall. This will be a great way to identify members of the community and show house pride”, a University representative stated. Student identification numbers and house logos will be tattooed so ID cards can not be lost or stolen.
Some students hope the new dorm will address issues with first– year immigration. The rate of first– year immigration has been down since 2005 due to new policies. However, some students think it is not enough. Loretta Vasquez, a first year gender studies major said she hoped the new residence hall would impact these policies further.
“When High Schools send their people, they’re not sending their best,” said Vasquez,. “They’re not sending us. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing racism. They’re bringing misogyny. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” She hopes that the university will require that all first year migrants be strictly monitored, or have them risk deportation to Northwestern University.
