Vice Presidential Debate Goes Pretty Smoothly

As expected, Tuesday’s Vice Presidential Debate between Ohio Senator J.D. Vance and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz unfolded without controversy. Vance and Walz clashed over issues such as abortions, immigration, and foreign policy with utmost respect for the debate and each other.

“Tim and I are both veterans,” said Vance, in a post-debate appearance on Fox. “We both grew up in the Midwest. I think we differ the most on abortions, but I can look past that since overall he’s a straight shooter. Figuratively and literally.”

Arguably the most turbulent section of the debate occurred when Walz dodged a question on whether Connecticut should be considered part of New England or the New York tri-state area, and Vance did not wait to confirm his opponent had finished speaking before pointing it out. Walz protested, and a quick apology from Vance got the debate back on track, without the need for intervention from a moderator. After the debate, arguably biased CNN analysts declared the race was as good as won for Harris.

Americans flocked to Twitter (formerly known as X formerly known as Twitter) to voice their opinions, including Governor Walz himself.

“Just nailed a debate with a colleague,” Walz tweeted. “Love talking with you guys but I gotta leave now. We were gonna grab some drinks together after this whole thing.”
