Heartwarming: Student Saves World with Donation to Group Tabling in Reynolds
REYNOLDS CLUB—When first-year LaToya Josephson gave five dollars to the UChicago World-Saving Club, she did not expect to save the world. “The World-Saving Club tables in Reynolds every Thursday, and well, I have HUME with the guy who was tabling last week,” Josephson recalled. “I didn’t realize I knew him until he saw me, and he waved, and then I couldn’t say no when he asked me to give five dollars… And it turns out I saved the world.”
“The UChicago World-Saving Club’s mission is to save the world,” said Jamie “The Guy Who Was Tabling Last Week” Ulrich. “And we mean that literally. Like, an asteroid was hurtling towards Earth. We needed five dollars to buy some wiring to finish our space cannon. We were able to blast the asteroid away from the Earth’s trajectory just in the nick of time!” Ulrich teared up as he continued, “LaToya was the one who stepped up to save us all. She’s a hero.”
Josephson plans to continue her heroism through continued donations to other groups tabling in Reynolds. So far, she has given to the Society of Business German Minors with Less Than a B+ Average, Maroons Against Cottage Cheese in Dining Halls, and Cuckoo Clock Enthusiasts International. Thank you for your generosity, LaToya!
