UChicago Establishes Center for the Investigation of the Pursuit of Knowledge, Happiness and Success
Today, the University of Chicago unveiled its new Kenneth C Griffin Center for the Investigation of the Pursuit of Knowledge, Happiness, and Success. Using empirical methods and qualitative analysis inspired by the teachings of Aristotle, a team of researchers will determine the best, most virtuous way to live.
“Today, we broke ground for a groundbreaking department,” said University President Paul Alivisatos. “Henceforth, the University of Chicago will be the place where happiness comes to live, rather than the place where fun goes to die.”
When asked about how the Center will change the landscape of these philosophical questions that millennia of thinkers have thought about, Alivisatos pointed to the unique, interdisciplinary approach researchers will bring. “When you put tons of spices in the same soup, it just tastes better. Well, depending on the spices, of course.”
