Following the recent crackdown on anti-ICE protests following the murder of Ren\u00e9e Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has announced that the Democrats will respond with extreme terseness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
More specifically, Schumer promised that the Democratic Party will respond to ICE aggression with \u201can extremely angry letter, the likes of which has not yet been seen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked why his paper wouldn\u2019t take more tangible action, Schumer responded, \u201cEver since the dawn of democracy, the youth are the ones to propel progress. According to recent reports, the letter will contain sharp criticisms of Donald Trump\u2019s domestic and international policy. More specifically, excerpts have been leaked and include sentences such as \u201cKidnapping people is wrong,\u201d \u201cKidnapping foreign presidents is also wrong if the CIA doesn\u2019t do it,\u201d \u201cMaybe trans Americans getting a genocide warning from the Lemkin Institute is not good optics,\u201d and \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s makeup keeps getting worse and worse\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, some have criticized the party\u2019s response. Adam Given, a Political Science major at UChicago, shared that he distrusts this move, stating that \u201cletters cannot impeach a president.\u201d To address such concerns, the Democratic Party announced that the letter will be written with the help of a Yukaghir shaman who will write a spell inside the letter to make Trump feel unwell every time the letter is reposted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
