Greenthal, lead author of the study, while sipping a $14 campus coffee and adjusting his Patagonia vest. \u201cAnd as we know from global trade theory, imported goods should be taxed to protect local industries\u2013in this case, domestic students struggling to keep up with group projects.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The paper argues that these tariffs would help balance what it calls an \u201cacademic trade deficit,\u201d where international students allegedly \u201cflood the campus with high GPAs, multilingual fluency, and an alarming number of internships,\u201d leaving domestic students with only Philosophy minors and vague hopes of podcast stardom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Critics, however, have been quick to pounce. \u201cThis is peak Booth,\u201d said Dr. Alyssa Martinez, a political science professor and owner of three tote bags with the word \u201cCoexist\u201d on them. \u201cNext they\u2019ll propose surge pricing for office hours and dynamic demand curves for campus Wi-Fi.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the backlash, the administration appears intrigued.
