The cause? Encouraging \u201cliterally anyone\u201d to vote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI totally believe voting is the most important part of upholding our democracy. Why should that be limited to just adult American citizens? Like, why can\u2019t my cat vote as well?\u201d said third-year Brittanay Leightyn Meyers. Upon further investigation, it appears she has begged international students to fill out voting applications and ballots. Mr. Whiskers, Meyers\u2019 cat, remains silent on who he cast his ballot for.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent tactics to encourage voting from UChiVotes include cornering first-year students until they check their voting location, borrowing UCPD riot gear to force people into the Reynolds Club during early voting, and switching out all of the Regenstein Library\u2019s books for ballots.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some students however, feel attacked by these methods. \u201cI didn\u2019t know what to do. They cried at my feet begging for me to think of democracy. I caved, even though I am not an adult,\u201d said an older looking sixth grader at the Laboratory Schools.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI just hope we are making a difference. I really want to be able to give Mr. Whiskers all the treats he deserves,\u201d said Meyers.
