MILWAUKEE \u2013 Former President Donald Trump has promised that his political opponents will only be \u201clightly tortured\u201d should voters return him to the White House this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview with the <\/span>Dealer <\/span><\/i>following a rally in Milwaukee, the Republican nominee for president said that his administration would not be as vengeful or bloodthirsty as some critics have alleged.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou have people saying all kinds of things, people, the media\u2013they say, \u2018Ohhh he\u2019s going to be a dictator, he\u2019s going to use the military against his enemies,\u2019 all these horrible things they\u2019re saying\u2013totally fake,\u201d Mr. Trump said with his signature hand-waggle. \u201cNo. It\u2019s going to be\u2013not so bad really, not so bad. It\u2019s going to be\u2013you take some people, all right? Lightly tortured. I say lightly tortured, because it is, it\u2019s very slight torture.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Trump rejected the proposition that any degree of torturing one\u2019s electoral opponents was unacceptable, as many Democrats have recently argued. \u201cPeople on the left, they say, \u2018No, you can\u2019t do that! You can\u2019t torture anyone, oh no, you can\u2019t do that!\u2019 I mean, can you believe this?\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo we\u2019re going to torture people a little, really it\u2019s not so bad, waterboarding or cigarettes or with the electrodes, things of that nature, you have\u2013who do you have\u2013Sleepy Joe, remember him? Lightly tortured. Crazy [Vice President] Kamabla [Harris], Laughin\u2019 Kamala\u2013Kamalama Ding Dong, I call her, do you like that? That\u2019s what I call her\u2013lightly tortured. [Congressman] Adam Schiff [of California], Shifty Schiff, Schiffin\u2019 through the graveyard, lightly tortured, also. And Taylor Swift, very lightly tortured.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Trump blamed the mainstream media for exaggerating the degree to which his second administration would seek to persecute his enemies, saying that more extreme torture methods such as the medieval brodequin or crucifixion would only be used in very rare cases.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cReally, it\u2019s you people, you in the press, and I mean you, too, the <\/span>Shady Trader<\/span><\/i>, is that right? Always saying these\u2013really these horrible things about me, it\u2019s disgusting, frankly. This is a beautiful thing that we\u2019re doing, and you look on television and see all these vicious, vicious lies. And we\u2019re still winning. We\u2019re still winning with all these big numbers. So big you can\u2019t even see them, some of them, the numbers. Can you believe that? It\u2019s incredible. You never heard of bigger numbers. Seventy-teen percent, they\u2019re saying, seventy-teen percent I\u2019m going to get. It\u2019s true, look at the polls. The polls won\u2019t show it, but mine do. It\u2019s incredible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut yeah, there’s going to be a lot of blood if I win,\u201d Mr. Trump continued, \u201cA lot of blood. And also if I lose. It\u2019s going to be\u2013a lot like the apocalypse, in a lot of ways, if I lose. Not so good. But we’re winning. We’re winning a lot.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
