In 1894, just four years after the school\u2019s founding, Pullman created his own currency to pay his employees, cutting wages while maintaining rent prices in company housing.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When asked about their decision, University administrators stated, \u201cWe\u2019re excited to go back to a time when we weren\u2019t in debt.\u201d The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dealer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> requested to speak with the mastermind behind the decision, famed economist Arthur Laffer, who said, \u201cI believe strongly in my judgment. It is yet to fail any major institution thus far.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dealer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> looked into Laffer\u2019s hiring, we found that the school accumulated more than $500,000 in debt after bringing him in. When questioned about why he didn\u2019t take his payment in Maroon dollars, Laffer replied, \u201cWhy would I do that shit?
