{"id":6670,"date":"2024-10-04T21:30:50","date_gmt":"2024-10-05T02:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/?p=6670"},"modified":"2024-10-04T21:44:06","modified_gmt":"2024-10-05T02:44:06","slug":"o-week-ball-pit-surprisingly-fun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/04\/o-week-ball-pit-surprisingly-fun\/","title":{"rendered":"O-Week Ball Pit Surprisingly Fun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">THE QUAD \u2014 In an effort to appeal to the new class of the incoming first-years, University administration installed a ten-foot-deep ball pit in the northwest portion of the Main Quadrangle on Sunday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University describes the ball pit as \u201can epic mix of adventure, play, and adrenaline\u201d that features friendly, familiar characters such as Batguy (no relation), Mikey Mouse (no relation), and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (no relation). \u201cI just want these kids to have fun,\u201d said Head Ball Pit Supervisor Keith Michaels. \u201cThey\u2019re young, they\u2019re fresh, and they\u2019re on their own for the first time. They\u2019re gonna have some extra energy, and we hope that this copyright compliant pit can get some of that hyperactivity out before classes start. Haha.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While some members of the class of 2028 turned up their noses at this classic bowl of enchantment, many jumped right in. \u201cThe best part was when I beaned my O-Mance in the face,\u201d said Riley Hiddleston, a first-year from Michigan. \u201cI had to get him back for kissing a Rustandy House girl at the Glow Party.\u201d She added, \u201cWe actually ended up making out under all the balls.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Said Roger Bumph, a first-year from Massachusetts, \u201cI really liked the inclusion of my favorite characters, like Rob the Builder and the raccoon from Guards of the Galaxy. Also Simone de Beauvoir. It was really awesome to swim in those balls with my heroes.\u201d It seems to us at the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dealer <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that the ball pit has nothing short of a smashing success.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UPDATE\u2014at 4:06pm the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dealer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> received news that Roger Bumph, who was featured in our article, had to be rescued by UCPD after nearly suffocating at the bottom of the ball pit.
