{"id":6592,"date":"2024-04-05T12:45:39","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T17:45:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/?p=6592"},"modified":"2024-04-02T23:47:31","modified_gmt":"2024-04-03T04:47:31","slug":"medieval-studies-major-catches-bubonic-plague-for-research-purposes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/05\/medieval-studies-major-catches-bubonic-plague-for-research-purposes\/","title":{"rendered":"Medieval Studies Major Catches Bubonic Plague for Research Purposes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Third year Thomas Horthenby, a Medieval Studies major, has decided to catch the bubonic plague in order to \u201cknow more about what it was really like to live in the Middle Ages.\u201d The plague, which has been ravaging the Medieval Studies department, kills two thirds of the people it infects, but this didn\u2019t deter Horthenby. \u201cI\u2019m built different, my immune system is genuinely just like that,\u201d he stated. \u201cAlso, shall I perish, I won\u2019t have to finish my Medieval Studies major.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We asked Thomas (from a safe distance) what having one of the most destructive diseases in history has taught him about medieval life. He admitted that he \u201cwasn\u2019t really sure yet,\u201d but expressed hope that by the time the disease had run its course, he\u2019d know enough to finish his midterm papers. When asked when he thought that would be, he replied \u201chopefully after my next blood-letting, which is tomorrow.
