Head of UChicago Dining, Christopher Toote, lauds the recipes as \u201ctechnically edible.\u201d Toote also took pains to specify that \u201cthe recipes in this book are tried-and-true success stories: we regularly see students choose them over our other offerings, including the day-old pizzas and the \u2018Oops! All lettuce\u2019 salad bars.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recipes from the cookbook, which will hit bookstores this May, reportedly include \u201cboiled chicken,\u201d \u201cboiled chicken with paprika,\u201d \u201cmiddling-to-fair potato-inspired chicken,\u201d and \u201cjust a raw hunk of breast,\u201d among many others, as well as one \u201clegitimately good Shaoxing-marinated chicken\u201d recipe they seem to only produce on Chinese New Year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cookbook is gathering decidedly mixed reviews. \u201cI was worried that moving off campus would mean that I\u2019d be free from dining hall food forever,\u201d said nostalgic third-year Brie Kitchener. \u201cNow that I\u2019m forced to feed myself, it\u2019s comforting to know that I can slap together the same unremarkable dishes in my own kitchen.\u201d <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bite Magazine<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> agreed, praising the cookbook\u2019s \u201cbold stance\u201d on not splurging on expensive meats.
