{"id":5606,"date":"2022-10-06T15:00:30","date_gmt":"2022-10-06T20:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/?p=5606"},"modified":"2022-10-03T19:42:37","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T00:42:37","slug":"mansueto-declared-worlds-largest-gender-neutral-restroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/index.php\/2022\/10\/06\/mansueto-declared-worlds-largest-gender-neutral-restroom\/","title":{"rendered":"Mansueto Declared World&#8217;s Largest Gender-Neutral Restroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University of Chicago announced Monday that it would be reclassifying the Mansueto Library as a gender-neutral restroom, in a move that can only be described as an obvious attempt to win a Guinness World Record.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Campus activists have long protested the University\u2019s reluctance to provide gender-neutral facilities; however, they noted that allowing students to relieve themselves in the middle of the humongous dome is \u201cprobably not the way to solve this particular issue.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSomeone in admissions mentioned that Harvard had a \u2018pretty big\u2019 restroom somewhere on campus, and of course we couldn\u2019t let that stand unopposed,\u201d said a source familiar with the decision. \u201cOf course, it doesn\u2019t hurt that Hogwarts, our closest peer university, also maintained a shit-where-you-want policy for years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The move has proved unpopular among a vast majority of the student body, although several Mansueto regulars were more enthusiastic. \u201cHonestly, I didn\u2019t really notice at all,\u201d said one third-year, \u201cI show up at 8am, look at my screen, and don\u2019t take my eyes off it until sundown.
