To be clear, I didn\u2019t know about this until I heard about it from a couple of weebs in the Delgiorno house lounge. I didn\u2019t even know that we had an anime club until today. Also, I definitely didn\u2019t go to the convention, but even if I had gone, it would\u2019ve been my first anime convention, because I definitely haven\u2019t been to any other ones either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That said, here are 4 complaints I would have about UChi-Con if I went. Which I didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cosplay competition results were totally unfair<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Sexy Todoroki cosplayers are so blas\u00e9 these days \u2013 especially since Megan Thee Stallion debuted her version. The fact that one of them won the cosplay competition, in a costume they bought over the internet, no less, is blatant pandering to the <em>My Hero Academia<\/em> fanbase. There were far more artful, DIY cosplays at the convention. In particular, the group <em>Tokyo Mew Mew<\/em> cosplay got totally snubbed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li>Body pillow diversity<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not talking about that diversity and inclusion stuff that they put on the university\u2019s admissions page. I\u2019m talking about what really matters \u2013 anime genre diversity. Why is it that all the body pillows at the artists\u2019 alley are from shounen anime? Why is no one making shoujo body pillows? I asked someone at the information desk about this, and they just shrugged and said that maybe shounen is just more popular and better for business. And that\u2019s bullshit, because I would single-handedly spend the entirety of my bank account at the artists\u2019 alley if only they had body pillows of Minto from <em>Tokyo Mew Mew<\/em>. I don\u2019t give a shit about Bakugou or <em>My Hero Academia<\/em>, and the stalls at the alley lost out on my business because of that. Maybe it\u2019s time for UChi-Con to cater to diverse (better) tastes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\"><li>Artists\u2019 alley didn\u2019t have explicit ship art???????<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Enough said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\"><li>Maid cafe workers won\u2019t act out the script I wrote&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t have an ardent passion for niche maid-themed anime. I\u2019m also not an established fanfiction celebrity with over 20 followers on archiveofourown.org. And I\u2019m certainly not the writer of the acclaimed <em>Tokyo Mew Mew <\/em>alternate universe maid cafe fanfiction <em>Come Have Tea With Me<\/em>. But if that were the case, and if I had brought a script adaptation of said fanfiction to the UChi-Con maid cafes, would it have really been so hard for the staff to act it out? I\u2019m not saying that I\u2019m <em>entitled<\/em> to people acting out my greatest work, but it\u2019s a simple request. I mean, the script is only 30 pages, and it\u2019s literally the top-ranked fanfiction in the fandom (under the \u201cmaid cafe AU\u201d category).
