{"id":4910,"date":"2021-03-07T12:09:08","date_gmt":"2021-03-07T18:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/?p=4910"},"modified":"2021-03-07T13:46:29","modified_gmt":"2021-03-07T19:46:29","slug":"only-permitted-spring-break-activity-is-clicking-this-button-admin-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/index.php\/2021\/03\/07\/only-permitted-spring-break-activity-is-clicking-this-button-admin-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Only Permitted Spring Break Activity is Clicking This Button, Admin Says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HYDE PARK \u2014 A recent email from the College urged students to stay at home and within the Chicago area during the upcoming spring break, and revealed that the only activity the College suggests students do during the break period was to click the button below this article.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI write to share the rich variety of activities and programs available to you as College students \u2014 mainly this button,\u201d said Dean of the College John Boyer in the email. \u201cWe\u2019re all fighting the loneliness and isolation that comes with living through a pandemic, especially during what is apparently going to be a nine-week quarter for the foreseeable future.\u201d The email adds that the button was developed by researchers at the Weston Game Lab, and was designed to serve as the \u201cultimate collaborative game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe built the button in order to create a feeling of community and connection through recreation, so students could enjoy their break safely,\u201d said Prof. Patrick Jagoda, director of the Game Lab. \u201cWe think the goal of the game \u2014 to increase the number of times the button has been clicked \u2014 will serve as a satisfying communal objective for the College as a whole, one that can more than make up for the fun we\u2019d otherwise be having basking on faraway beaches, exploring Chicago, and being drunk in public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So? What are you waiting for? Simply push this button, and feel the community.
