{"id":2354,"date":"2013-03-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-03-15T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/35.224.237.165\/index.php\/2019\/02\/25\/wyoming-pushed-out-to-sea-to-make-room-for-puerto-rico\/"},"modified":"2019-02-26T05:00:31","modified_gmt":"2019-02-25T22:00:31","slug":"wyoming-pushed-out-to-sea-to-make-room-for-puerto-rico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chicagoshadydealer.com\/index.php\/2013\/03\/16\/wyoming-pushed-out-to-sea-to-make-room-for-puerto-rico\/","title":{"rendered":"Wyoming pushed out to sea to make room for Puerto Rico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" alt=\" \" \/><\/p>\n<h6>By <a href=\"\/search?author=Hannah Gitlin\">Hannah Gitlin<\/a><\/h6>\n<h6>Jan. 3, 2013<\/h6>\n<p>After more than 800,000 Puerto Rican voters voiced support for  the island to become the 51st U.S. state, United States lawmakers have determined that \u0093as it stands, there just isn&#8217;\u0092t room.\u0094 The only solution, as Congress sees it, is that \u0093&#8221;If Puerto Rico wants in, someone has to go.\u0094&#8221; Therefore, later this week, Congress is to vote on a proposition to push the state of Wyoming out to sea and bring Puerto Rico into the mainland. <\/p>\n<p>\t\u0093&#8221;We figured no one  would notice if Wyoming&#8217;s missing, and we also figured that pushing it out to sea would  give the population of Wyoming something to do for a little while,&#8221;\u0094 said one Congressman on condition of anonymity. <\/p>\n<p>\t\u0093&#8221;This issue really transcends party lines. Nobody on either side of the aisle can figure out what Wyoming is for,&#8221;\u0094 said Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL), &#8220;\u0093so it\u0092s the perfect solution.\u0094&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\tAccording to some lawmakers, there has been dispute about whether or not Puerto Rico will fit in with the other 49 states. Said  one lawmaker, &#8220;\u0093It&#8217;\u0092s all squiggly and islandy, while Wyoming is a square.\u0094&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\tPresident Obama, at a recent press conference, said, &#8220;\u0093it doesn\u0092&#8217;t matter whether Puerto Rico is squiggly or small or if it contains other smaller outlying islands.
