The result: a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing after three months of negative cash flow and declining investor confidence. <\/p>\n<p>  \u201cWe knew from the start that it was just us against the world\u2014just us, as well as our hand-tossed cabin-aged craft-process, our mom\ufeffma&#8217;s and papa\u2019s immigrant wisdoms, and our shaggy bear-animal dog.\u201d said Guy Somers, the blonde one. \u201cAnd sometimes, the world wins.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The brothers started their business with a hand-found mimeograph machine and three rusty cups out of a humble boathouse in their hometown of Oxford, AL. When business picked up, they moved to the humble abandoned radio station where their grandfather first introduced rock n&#8217; roll to the good people of Allison, CA,  a humble seaside village just forty-eight miles from the Bay Area. Now, in order to service their overwhelming debt, the brothers will be forced to refinance and liquidate their humble assets. <\/p>\n<p>These assets include the old diary their grandmother left them, the first wheels that fell off their first delivery soapbox racer, and, of course, a whole lot of love, collectively valued at around $12,000. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe grew up in a real family, so you might say we have a soft spot for simple time-honored furniture, practical, air-born soap that cleans your hands and your soul, and traditionalist homespun hand-touched bookkeeping practices,\u201d said Ty Somers, with brown hair. \u201cWe really hoped they wouldn\u2019t make us liquidate Chuck.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The loss of the company also means unemployment for relationship artisan and botanist Karen, brand artisan and younger brother Bryan, and 1500 full-time assembly-line artisans who have already been hand-deported.<\/p>\n<p>The brothers plan to return to their roots in Detroit, OK as family-boys and iron-smiths, where they might suddenly get a crazy thought in their head about a great way to smith candy instead.
