Yoga practitioners faced an expanded repertoire last week,<\/insert> as new asanas were added by the Yoga Council<\/insert> to the official list of yoga poses. Most discussed among the additions was the “Gay Marriage Stance,” with<\/insert>hich comes in<\/delete> several variations popularized largely by candidates<\/insert>candidates for the U<\/delete>.<\/insert><\/delete>S<\/delete>.<\/insert><\/delete> Pr<\/delete>esidency<\/delete> in the 2016 presidential <\/insert>election.<\/insert><\/p>\n

“The Gay Marriage Stance is a demanding pose, appropriate only for the most experienced students of yoga,” said Dwayne Prasad, director of Chicago’s Yoga4U studio. “Properly executed, the Gay Marriage Stance involves many twists and turns. It requires great flexibility and control. It cannot be completely taught; <\/delete>\u2014<\/insert>rather, an individual must find <\/delete>arrive at <\/insert>their own, unique<\/insert> Gay Marriage Stance through constant practice and meditation. And in its truest form, the Gay Marriage Stance is completely opaque to onlookers and observers.”<\/insert><\/p>\n

Despite the warnings of experts that the Gay Marriage Stance should only be attempted in a controlled environment, and then<\/insert> only <\/insert>after proper training, several people<\/delete>would-be practicioners <\/insert>faced severe embarrassment on their first public attempt of the pose. Oswald Isha<\/delete>i<\/insert>gura of Lake Placid, New York<\/insert>Y<\/delete>, who was raised in a conservative family,<\/insert> but has two openly <\/insert>gay sons, collapsed dramatically as he tried to assume the pose in his local studio. Omar Petersen,<\/insert> of Forest Park, Illinois<\/insert>L<\/delete>, similarly lost his balance, apparently because he entered the pose distracted by his duties as a Boy Scout <\/delete>l<\/insert>l<\/delete>eader of a Boy Scout troop<\/insert>. <\/insert><\/p>\n
