We are excited about this fresh and cultured bunch,\u201d said one admissions officer.<delete class=\"del cts-3\" data-cid=\"50\" data-time=\"1438485815425\" data-userid=\"3\" data-username=\"Nicolas Aldape\">.<\/delete> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone is so happy in Africa. Everyone was smiling, offering us food, and speaking to us in English! It was like we were all one happy family,\u201d said Susie Ba<insert class=\"ins cts-3\" data-cid=\"37\" data-time=\"1438485568728\" data-userid=\"3\" data-username=\"Nicolas Aldape\">lotelli<\/insert><delete class=\"del cts-3\" data-cid=\"29\" data-time=\"1438485566883\" data-userid=\"3\" data-username=\"Nicolas Aldape\">rtlett<\/delete>, a first-year who just graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York City, \u201cI don\u2019t understand why America can\u2019t be more like that.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Several <insert class=\"ins cts-2\" data-cid=\"12\" data-time=\"1438455663225\" data-userid=\"17\" data-username=\"Walker King\">first-years<\/insert><delete class=\"del cts-2\" data-cid=\"3\" data-time=\"1438455661688\" data-userid=\"17\" data-username=\"Walker King\">admittees<\/delete> marveled at how much like home the parts of Africa they spent the most time in actually were. \u201cI thought that Africa was just going to be a whole other world. But once I was there, I realized it isn\u2019t that different. One <delete class=\"del cts-3\" data-cid=\"8\" data-time=\"1438928961426\" data-userid=\"3\" data-username=\"Nicolas Aldape\">2019 accepted student<\/delete><insert class=\"ins cts-3\" data-cid=\"9\" data-time=\"1438928964254\" data-userid=\"3\" data-username=\"Nicolas Aldape\">fist-year<\/insert> recalled, \u201cOn service Sunday we drove through poor neighborhoods and threw food and toiletr<insert class=\"ins cts-2\" data-cid=\"41\" data-time=\"1438455738101\" data-userid=\"17\" data-username=\"Walker King\">i<\/insert><delete class=\"del cts-2\" data-cid=\"40\" data-time=\"1438455737734\" data-userid=\"17\" data-username=\"Walker King\">e<\/delete>es out of our windows. Being there\u2014driving through\u2014gave me a profound and moving glimpse of what misfortune might actually be like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The impact of these life-changing travels widely varied from student to student.
