<\/insert>Kyle Jacoby is only in the fifth grade, but already he thinks he\u2019s some sort of chess prodigy. To test his mettle, he challenged six grand–<\/insert>masters to a simultaneous blindfolded chess match, and damn, was he out of his depth here. <\/p>\n

Little Kyle isn\u2019t bad at chess, mind you. <\/delete> He has a 1200 rating in the chess circuit, and he\u2019s beaten both his mom and his dad. <\/delete> But, God, the kid played against grown men who have been playing the game for years and years. <\/delete> He really should not have pulled this stunt; it was <\/insert>embarrassing for all <\/delete>everyone <\/insert> involved.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t believe that Kyle\u2019s bark was way way worse than his bite, all you need to do is watch the games yourself. <\/delete> By the fifth move or so, Kyle forgot which G<\/insert>g<\/delete>randmaster he was playing against, guessing moves for each game. <\/delete> At one point, Kyle made<\/delete>attempted<\/insert> 17 different illegal moves before finally learning that he could legally push his h<\/delete> pawn, which was immediately taken by Grandmaster Nadya Gorski\u2019s bishop. <\/p>\n

\u201cI felt bad for him,\u201d said Gorski. <\/delete> \u201cWhen I signed up for this, I thought, \u2018oh, I\u2019m gonna be against some talented child prodigy, this could be a cool way to see the next generation of G<\/insert>g<\/delete>randmasters<\/delete>\u2019, but wow, was this kid amateurish. <\/delete> I mean, I even left a knight right where Kyle could take it for a while just so he can take it and<\/delete>ould feel like he accomplished something. But <\/insert>he never noticed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou could tell around his third or fourth move against these G<\/insert>g<\/delete>randmasters that Kyle was going to learn a harsh lesson about humanity,\u201d said Bruce Jacoby, Kyle\u2019s stepfather. <\/delete> \u201cFor God knows what reason, he refused to resign, thinking that somehow over the course of the match he would come to remember where all the pieces were. <\/delete> I felt really bad for him, but Kyle really should have at least tried a few matches of blindfolded chess against me before challenging all those G<\/insert>randmasters. Between you and me, though, I don\u2019t think he would have won even if he weren\u2019t blindfolded.\u201d<\/p>\n
