Like most fraternities on campus, PsiU\u2019s Friday night party<\/delete> \u201c90\u2019s\u201d themed party forced guys to pay $5 at the door,<\/insert> while girls got in for free. However<\/insert>ver<\/delete>, the fraternity differentiated itself from other campus fraternities <\/insert>in<\/delete>with<\/insert> a press release sent out by the brothers on Saturday morning, which <\/insert>clarified<\/insert> the purpose of the policy.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite what is normally perceived, the ‘<\/insert>\u201c<\/delete>$5 for guys policy‘<\/insert>\u201d<\/delete> had nothing to do with maintaining a good gender ratio in the party,\u201d stated Jamie Gorman. \u201cInstead, it was a way to correct for the pay gap that exists between men and women in countless jobs across America, a product of the systemic sexism that plagues the country.<\/insert>.<\/delete>\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/delete>Gorman continued that one of the brothers, Ron Stamos, learned about the issue of income inequality in his E<\/insert>e<\/delete>conomics of W<\/insert>w<\/delete>omen class. Stamos said, \u201cI originally took the class to pick up chicks but was stunned to learn that women earn on average 75<\/insert>82<\/delete> cents to each dollar a man makes. Once I knew this, I had to do something to rectify it. After bringing it up in chapter, the guys and I agreed that charging guys at the door was the most logical way to fight gender discrimination!\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, the brothers felt unsatisfied.
