On April 26, the Chicago Maroon<\/i> reported that beginning in Winter 2018, the University will offer an African Civilizations program in Dakar, Senegal. <\/insert>At the April 15th College Council meeting, Dean Boyer announced that the University is seeking to offer an African Civilizations Study Abroad Program in Africa next year. <\/delete>Currently, the study abroad <\/insert>program is run out of <\/delete>offered only in <\/insert>Paris. While we,<\/delete> at the Shady Dealer,<\/delete><\/i> think having a the program on the continent being studied is nice <\/delete>and all<\/delete>, we have some other ideas of places the program could be run out of<\/delete>offered<\/insert>:<\/p>\n

    Ann Arbor<\/delete><\/a>, <\/delete>Michigan<\/delete><\/a>Ann Arbor, Michigan<\/insert>: Ann Arbor was the sister city of Dakar, Senegal in 1997. That one year basically made <\/delete>makes <\/insert>it an African city. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    The Africa section of Disney\u2019s Animal Kingdom, Celebration<\/delete>, Florida: You can\u2019t get much more of an <\/insert> <\/delete>authentic cultural experience<\/insert>e<\/delete> than you can at Disney World. A few rides on the Kilimanjaro Safaris is a great primer on Fanon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Oaxaca, Mexico: Why not just just combine African Civ program with the Latin American Civ program? It\u2019s all the developing world anyway, right?<\/insert>\u2026<\/delete><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Sheridan, Wyoming: The Africa of Wyoming!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Yassa African Restaurant, Chicago: With this option, students will live and learn in the exotic Yassa Restaurant, coming face to face with authentic<\/insert> African culture regularly<\/delete>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Lewiston, Maine: Lewiston has one of the largest populations of Somalian immigrants<\/insert>s<\/delete> in America,<\/insert> and the weather is African enough.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Amsterdam, Netherlands: Its connection to Africa is historically controversial, <\/insert><\/insert>dubious<\/delete>.<\/delete> b<\/insert>B<\/delete>ut so is Paris\u2019!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: If you can\u2019t get the biggest desert in the world, settle for <\/insert>the second biggest!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Barranquilla, Colombia: Shakira\u2019s hometown. She sang the anthem of the World Cup in Africa, so her connection to Africa must be powerful.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
