In response to the N<\/delete>n<\/insert>ews that President Barack<\/insert> Obama\u2019s e<\/insert>E<\/delete>ldest daughter, Malia, will be attending Harvard after taking a gap year, the University of Chicago has decided to reward<\/delete>award<\/insert> her with<\/delete> an honorary Doctor of Law Degree at the upcoming 2016<\/delete>527th<\/insert> convocation. <\/p>\n

Professor Gary Wilson, noted for his insight into game theory, was responsible for nominating Malia for the degree. He explained his rationale exclusively <\/insert>to the Dealer.<\/insert><\/i><\/p>\n

by saying<\/delete>‘B<\/insert>\u201cb<\/delete>y<\/insert>e<\/delete> making her a doctor immediately, we eliminate any chance Harvard has of taking credit for her education. Naturally a law degree was the perfect choice given her father\u2019s previous post at Chicago.\u201d Wilson then added that even though the president and his wife met and dated at Harvard that \u201cit doesn\u2019t leave the same lasting effect as teaching Law in a gentrified Chicago neighborhood does<\/delete>.<\/insert><\/delete>\u201d<\/delete>.<\/delete> <\/p>\n

Malia herself refused to comment on if <\/delete>whether <\/insert>the d<\/insert>D<\/delete>egree will affect her choice to go to Harvard, but her parents have promised to support their daughter no matter what. <\/p>\n

By contrast, many of Obama\u2019s critics cite the honor as another example of the president\u2019s children being given special privilege. Local Republican student James Southerland said that the honor was \u201cnepotism <\/insert>affirmative action <\/delete>run amok\u201d and complained that \u201cshe needs to suffer through the core and a major just like the rest of us if she wants to have earned<\/delete> that degree!<\/insert>!<\/delete>\u201d<\/p>\n
