The Constitution does not mandate any qualifications for Supreme Court justices, but previous presidents have traditionally nominated adult humans.<\/p>\n<p>At a press conference at the White House, a screen displayed the fetal ultrasound from the young blonde woman carrying the nominee. \u201cLook at that!\u201d Mr. Trump boasted. \u201cA lot of people are saying it\u2019s the best nominee since Neil Gorsuch, maybe ever. And the mom\u2019s still a ten \u2014 soon she\u2019ll get disgusting, but at least her boobs will be bigger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what you wanted, right?\u201d Mr. Trump asked the largely evangelical attendees. \u201cYoung, white, anti-abortion \u2014 what could be more anti-abortion than a fetus? I was just talking to Mike Pence \u2014 you people really care about this stuff, huh?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, praised the \u201cdefinitely heterosexual and hopefully male\u201d nominee to replace Justice Kennedy. \u201cAnd Christian,\u201d he added. \u201cThe nominee is a Christian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reached for comment, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said, \u201cSure, why not? We have enough votes for anything President Trump wants to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alarmed that the fetus could join a solid majority to overturn Roe v. Wade, liberal activists launched a pressure campaign targeting the handful of moderate Democrats and pro-choice Republicans who could cast the deciding votes in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Susan Collins of Maine, who previously declared that she would not vote for a nominee hostile to Roe, gave no indication of whether she would support the fetus. \u201cWe should always stake out an awkward middle ground with respect to fundamental rights that affect everyone\u2019s lives,\u201d she said.
